How do you prepare a GPS watch for children for abroad?

If you travel abroad, GPS tracking will no longer work as soon as you cross the border. The watch is set for use in the Netherlands. If you want to use the GPS watch abroad, you must take the steps below. You can set this up with one simple SMS.

The steps are described for our own Lebara SIM cards. If you use a SIM card from another provider, you must request your own specific APN data from your provider.
  1. You send a text message to the telephone number of the GPS watch at your holiday address. Please note that when abroad you should always place 0031 before the mobile number and remove the zero before the 6 (for example 0031612345678 instead of 0612345678). You send the following text message to the GPS watch; pw,123456,apn,portalmmm.nl,,,20408# (lower case and no spaces)
  2. The GPS watch will then send you a confirmation apn:portalmmm.nl;user:;passwork:;userdata:20408
  3. From that moment on, the internet data connection will work abroad
  4. Enable data roaming in the watch settings
  5. When you are back in the Netherlands, adjust the GPS watch again for use in the Netherlands via SMS; pw,123456,apn,internet,,,20408# (lower case and no spaces)
  6. The GPS watch will then send you a confirmation apn:internet;user:;passwork:;userdata:20408

Some additional questions:

After sending a text message, I do not receive a text message return, what should I do? It is possible that your password for the GPS watch is not 123456 but 523681. If that is the case, you can send the text message below. You will then receive a confirmation SMS afterwards. Send SMS with content; pw,523681,apn,portalmmm.nl,,,20408# (lower case and no spaces)
I do not have a Lebara SIM card, but another SIM card, what should I do? Ask your provider what the provider's APN details are. You must inquire about the APN code, country code of the holiday country and network code of the provider.
pw,123456,apn,portalmmm.nl,,, 204 08 #
  • you must change the APN code portalmmm.nl to the APN code of your provider
  • you must change country code 204 to the country code of your holiday country
  • you must change the provider's network code 08 to your provider's network code
Adjustments were successful with the SMS, but unfortunately no GPS track yet, how is that possible? For the GPS track, the watch requires a 2G network from your provider. As you will understand, there is no 2G network coverage worldwide. Ask your provider what the coverage is.
